Updating your Licence Key and Database Table Files

Problem

My Licence Key or Database Table Files (DTFs) need updating.

Resolution

You use Data Manager or Eiger Manager to update both the Licence Key and the Database Table Files.

You must have Data Manager or Eiger Manager installed, either locally or on the server.

Additional information

If you do not have Data Manager installed, you can download it from our website.

  • The latest Windows version is here
  • The latest AIX version is here
  • The latest HP-UX, Linux and Solaris is here

Before installing Data Manager, make sure you know where your current licence key and tables for your product are stored.
If you do not know the location, search for your licence key file. The filenames for UNIX and Windows are

  • epgaccess.key  - Experian Payments Gateway / EigerPAY Gateway
  • epg2access.key - Experian Payments Gateway 2
  • bwaccess.key - Bank Wizard 1
  • access.key - Bank Wizard 2 and 3
  • bcaccess.key - Bank Wizard for Card Payments
  • blaccess.key - Bank Wizard for Bill Payments
  • btaccess.key - Bank Wizard for Balance Transfers

On an AS400/iSeries platform you update a library. The library names are:

  • EPG - Experian Payments Gateway / EigerPAY Gateway
  • BW*** (*** Based on the version you have, eg BW45 for Bank Wizard 1)

If you are updating cross platforms, you must have FTP access to your target machine.

Once you know the location of the licence key and Database Table Files, add a new product as described in the Data Manager user documentation. You set the Target Location to the location of your Licence Key and Database Table Files. Typically the source location is Online Update or your CD-ROM drive.

Updating your licence key

To update the licence key

  1. Start Data Manager and then double click the product you want to update.
  2. Click the Licence tab.
  3. Click “Enter New Licence key”.
  4. Click “Enter”.
  5. Either type the licence key into the displayed box, or copy and paste from the email (using Ctrl+C to copy and Ctrl+V to paste)
  6. Click “OK”.
  7. Click “OK” again to close the Properties dialog.
If you are using a FTP target location, click the “Update Selected Product” icon.

Updating your tables via Online Update

On a weekly basis, Experian Payments will send an email when the new database tables files are available.

To update the database table files using online update:

  1. Start Data Manager.
  2. From the menu. select Update > Update DTF > All Product(s)
This downloads the tables from the online update server, to your target location.

Updating your tables via CD

On a four weekly basis, Experian Payments sends a CD-ROM containing the latest database table files.

To update the database table files from a CD-ROM:

  1. Start Data Manager.
  2. Put the CD-ROM into the CD drive.
  3. Make sure the “Source location” for your product is pointing at this drive.
You can copy the contents of the CD-ROM to a network location and then update from there. (Make sure the target location points to the network location)
  4. From the menu, select Update > Update DTF > All Product(s)

Troubleshooting

If you get the error “Please try again later” when updating via online update server:

  • make sure you have one of the following ports open on your firewall: 443, 80, 3782.
  • If you are connecting via a proxy, make sure the ou_connection.properties has the correct details. This file is in the Data Manager installation folder.

If you still cannot download the files, please raise a support call.

To help us resolve your problem, please include oulog.txt, and manager.log (these files are both in the Data Manager installation folder) and the licence number you are attempting to update (this is displayed in Data Manager under the Licence Number column.)
