People who have opted to receive online bills for their credit card rather than a statement through the post should take care not to miss their payment deadline, according to Fergus Muirhead.

The broadcaster told the BBC that cardholders need to check their online statements as regularly as they formerly checked their paper ones.

Furthermore, he noted that more credit card companies are moving to this system of online billing, so it is particularly important for consumers to be vigilant.

Kara Gammell of the Telegraph suggested today (June 30th) that setting up a direct debit card payment to cover at least the minimum owed on a credit card statement can help people maintain their good credit scores.

Business secretary Lord Peter Mandelson is expected to publish a white paper on Thursday (July 2nd) this week which is intended to address some controversial practices by lenders who are rejecting applications for credit cards.ADNFCR-1282-ID-19242976-ADNFCR
