SoftLayer and McAfee have teamed up to help customers comply with standards for payment card security.
The two companies will be offering McAfee's Payment Card Industry (PCI) security compliance scanning service to SoftLayer's customers for free.
E-commerce retailers around the world are obligated by banks and credit card companies to work within the PCI Security Standards Council's PCI Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) version 1.1.
Nathan Day, chief technology officer of SoftLayer, commented: "Security on the internet has always been one of the greatest challenges to conducting commerce. This solution will allow all SoftLayer customers to increase the safety and trust in their on-line stores and businesses."
The standard includes requirements of MasterCard's Site Data Protection (SDP) programme and the Cardholder Information Security Program (CISP) from Visa.
