A new payment card which can be loaded with foreign currency and is not linked to a bank account has been launched by Tesco.
The Tesco Travel Money Card does not have loading or commission fees and is issued without charge.
It is a chip-and-pin card, with a second "emergency" one provided to cover the event of loss or theft.
Unveiling the new product, the company revealed findings which show that 63 per cent of people surveyed said they do not set daily limits for their spending while on holiday abroad.
It found that nine per cent of Britons had fallen victim to the theft of their wallet or purse while overseas.
Earlier in the week, it was revealed that a pre-paid debit card has introduced a new facility which allows tourists to top-up their balance while on holiday abroad by sending a text message.
Consumers using the FairFX Currency Card will also be able to check their balance and confirm the exchange rate by the same means.
